Launched in 2015, Steam has a small but mighty team of experienced and passionate writers, editors, designers, and all around really fun people! Team Steam works quickly and creatively, thinks outside the box, and is open to any book idea that is fresh, sassy, and sexy!
Authors who partner with this team will experience a personalized approach to their work and will benefit from Team Steam’s many years of combined experience in the publishing and communications fields.
Sarah leads Team Steam and oversees author recruitment, editing, marketing, and all other things that keep the company running full steam ahead! She graduated from the University of Maine with a BA in English (Literary Analysis), and earned a Certificate of Graduate Study in Non-Profit Management from the Muskie School of Public Service. Sarah has worked for a prominent Maine-based advertising company, has performed non-profit advocacy, and has experience leading communication efforts for a large government agency. In her downtime, Sarah enjoys hiking, running, reading, and relaxing with her family and two dogs. She also finds great joy in detecting typos and grammatical errors that pop up in restaurant menus, road signs, and other unexpected places!
Derrick handles the business side of Kennebec Publishing, which he founded in 2007, and focuses most of his time on its other imprint, Prepper Press. When he wants to spice things up, he lends his business expertise to Team Steam and assists with acquisitions, contracts, wholesale orders, and other business tasks that help make our books a reality! A graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a BA in English, and a Masters in Public Policy and Management from the Muskie School of Public Service, Derrick’s work background has ranged from writing public policy to editing and publishing. When he isn’t working on his laptop, Derrick enjoys time with his family finding adventure in New England’s outdoors.
Kate focuses on copy editing and working with authors after their books are published to assist and enhance their marketing efforts. In addition to working for Steam and Prepper Press, she is an editor and artist for the University of Maine at Machias Press, where she also majors in English, Book Arts & Creative Writing and minors in Art. She’s worked and edited for Maine novelist Cathie Pelletier and Louisiana musician Doug Kershaw. In whatever remains of her spare time, she’s penning a romantic comedy about a woman’s affair with her ex’s doppelganger in a post-apocalyptic world.
Noemi brings Team Steam a strong background in publishing and IT. She assists with book formatting and eBook creation, and digital book editing. When not working, Noemi participates in book fairs to meet new authors and readers, or is otherwise found hiking trails up high or caving down low.
T. Yearwood handles all things visual and is responsible for cover design and logos, as well as any other graphic awesomeness that an author may need assistance with.
